With over 10 years experience as a specialist tax and duty lawyer, Melinda practises across all areas of direct and indirect tax, with a particular focus on providing corporate taxation and transaction structuring advice.

As lead partner in McCullough Robertson’s highly regarded taxation team and a chartered tax adviser, Melinda provides advice on the full spectrum of Federal taxes in Australia – including income tax, capital gains tax, goods and services tax, fringe benefits tax, superannuation, and on the application of State and Territory tax regimes throughout Australia such as duty, payroll tax, and land tax. She is also experienced in designing and implementing a range of employee incentive arrangements for both listed and private groups.

She advises extensively on cross-border taxation issues and inbound and outbound investment structures, mergers and acquisitions, trusts, and is experienced in advising and implementing a range of employee incentive and remuneration arrangements. Melinda also works actively with clients to prepare for and manage a broad range of tax controversy matters – from audit stage through to legal proceedings and has experience in such matters before the Federal Court, AAT and Queensland Supreme Court.

Melinda currently acts for a range of clients across a number of industries, including multinational corporations, a number of ASX-listed companies, and widely held investment funds. She also acts for a number of growing Australian companies looking to expand offshore.

Melinda is highly capable at analysing, interpreting and advising on complex legislation, as well as conveying this information in a practical and digestible form. Prior to practising as a lawyer, Melinda worked at an international accounting practice and has had commercial roles in the United Kingdom.

Melinda is a Queensland State Council Member of The Tax Institute Australia, holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Queensland and a Master of Taxation from the University of Sydney, and is a Chartered Tax Adviser.
