Emily is a Special Counsel in our Project Approvals and Compliance team, and is an expert energy and resources lawyer with over 13 years experience working in the resources sector.

She advises on all aspects of the resources industry with specific experience with coal and hard rock mineral clients.

Emily applies her experience to provide commercially focused advice to her clients. She assists her clients in developing and delivering all aspects of an energy project from conducting due diligence, drafting sale and purchase agreements, and providing strategic advice in respect of related approvals and consents.

She is experienced in advising on overlapping tenements, negotiating co-development agreements, tenement sale and purchase agreements, and land access and compensation matters.

Experience

Coal

Advising a Queensland based resources company on two of its Queensland projects from mining lease application stage to grant including a mining lease objections process in the Land Court, negotiation of a co-development agreement, compensation negotiations and project planning and strategy.

Project agreements

Negotiating key project documents including Sale and Purchase Agreements, Farm-in Agreements, Mining Services Contracts, Goods and Services Agreements, Tolling Agreements, Drilling Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements and Royalty Agreements.

Aboriginal Cultural Heritage

Advising a number of Queensland resources industry proponents on cultural heritage matters including the negotiation of cultural heritage management agreements.

State Government

Acting for the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads in relation to the development of Cultural Heritage Management Plans including for the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program Torbanlea Manufacturing Site Project.

Vitrinite

Advising on land access arrangements and project approvals for Vitrinite’s Vulcan North Project.

Bowdens Silver

Advising on land access matters to facilitate exploration activities in New South Wales.
